Pip’s love of the region

Philippa "Pip" Turton has a love for the Goulburn Valley that is palpable in every word she speaks about the region. Raised amidst its vibrant landscapes and strong community spirit, Pip has found inspiration in the stories that breathe life into her surroundings. Her passion for the Valley recently culminated in a powerful narrative for ABC’s Haywire competition, where she chose to focus on a subject close to her heart—the iconic bridge in Tocumwal.

The bridge, a landmark woven into the history of the region, has become more than just a structure for Pip. It stands as a symbol of connection—between towns, between people, and between the past and future. Her story delves into the way this bridge has shaped the community, linking generations while acting as a passage for growth and change. Pip’s writing highlights the deep relationship between locals and their surroundings, showing how something as seemingly simple as a bridge can hold the weight of countless personal histories.

Meeting Pip was an absolute joy for Vicki Scott, Executive Officer of Destination Goulburn Valley. Vicki was immediately struck by Pip’s energy, optimism, and genuine love for her home region. As they spoke, Vicki couldn’t help but feel inspired by how Pip intertwined her personal journey with her love of the region. Pip represents the next generation of storytellers that breathe life into the Goulburn Valley.

Through the Haywire competition and the attention her story is garnering, Pip’s heartfelt narrative about the Tocumwal bridge stands as a tribute to the enduring connection between the Goulburn Valley and its people. It’s clear that her passion for the region will continue to shine, whether through writing or simply living her truth as an advocate for her community.

The photos of Pip with her dad, Scotty, and Lytfi from Attention Media capture the trio as they recently came together in support of DGV’s new campaign ‘Our region is too special not to be shared’.
