Murchison Bakery and Tearooms
39 Stevenson St, Murchison

They bake great vanilla slices in the Goulburn Valley, and the one at Murchison is up there with the best. It’s also rare these days to find a neenish tart – you know, the two-tone icing on top of a layer of jam and mock cream in a shell of golden sweet shortcrust. Well, they bake them here in Murchison along with lamingtons and later additions to the bakery menu such as rocky road, cherry ripe slice and caramel slice.
Set in an 1800s building, the Murchison Bakery and Tearooms is always busy with locals picking up a loaf of bread, truckers and tradies settling into a meat pie, and travellers pulling in for a freshly-made sandwich. The bakery is opposite a park overlooking the Goulburn, making this an essential road trip pit stop.
